#Clogging is a type of #American folk dance with percussive foot-tapping. It has its roots in the dance of the #Irish, #Scottish, #English and #Dutch-#German settlers and it was the social dance in the #Appalachian Mountains as early as the 18th century. Accompanied by rousing fiddle and bluegrass music, clogging was a means of personal expression in a land of newfound freedoms. Today is National Day of Clogging / International Day of Clog Dancing ! Clogging has always been an important part of Fontana Village's history—the holiday honors the contributions of Bill Nichols, Fontana's longtime staff photographer and dancer extraordinaire, to the art of modern clogging.
